First reported by American Soccer Secrets on Twitter, and confirmed by me (I overheard academy players and staff discussing it), Nashville SC academy prospect Charly Dealmonte has/will be called into a USYNT camp for the second time.

Last time, Dealmonte was called into the U-15 camp prior to the CONCACAF U-15 Boys Championship, and actually made the roster for that tournament, but missed through injury.

Now he gets another opportunity to shine for country an age group higher. It’s unclear if the U-16s have any fixtures this camp, US Soccer keeps those things close to the vest if/when they can. However, if there is, and Dealmonte plays, he would be the first Nashville academy player to feature for the USYNT at any level.

Scott Cheevers was called into a U-15 camp a couple of years ago, though there was no fixtures in that camp. Nashville has had other players feature for other countries, think Samuel Byron, Dom Wilson, and Tyrell Moore who featured for Puerto Rico and Trinidad respectively.

It’s a big step also for Dealmonte, who has cemented himself as a player to watch with the U-17s in Nashville. He spent most of last season playing with the U-15s, but moved up an age group to join the squad he now currently plays with late in the year.

Nashville isn’t situated in a region of the country typically known for much soccer talent, but they’ve been able to pick out some serious talents, and that’s a good sign of things to come for the Nashville youth system, which is almost brand new, operating for only 4 years.

The more time passes, the more stories like this you’ll read. But for now, keep a close eye on Dealmonte. The young right back, at least in my opinion, has future homegrown written all over him.
